The Frye Company was founded in 1863 in Marlboro, Massachusetts, by John A. Frye. According to the book “Frye: The Boots That Made History:150 Years of Craftsmanship”, quite a few famous personalities have worn Frye boots including John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Julia Roberts, just to name a few. The book also mentions that John Frye opened his small shop for the purpose of easing the life of the factory workers that lived in the area at the time.
The company created its first pair of boots in 1888 and was one of the first factories in Marlboro to make the switch from steam to electrical power in 1889 which was highly innovative at the time.
By the time World War II arrived, Frye was producing boots for the United States military which were worn on both the European and Pacific fronts by ordinary servicemen and even General Patton himself.
During our own 100+ years of existence, Rago Brothers has repaired hundreds of pairs of Frye shoes, boots, and accessories. Our Frye boot repair service brings new life to all styles of Frye boots, including ones that are considered antiques themselves.
